Marako Marcus

Currently the Vice President in Learning & Talent Development, OCBC Bank, Marako handles the leadership and employee development interventions across the OCBC Group. He is involved in developing the talent infrastructure that cuts across all levels to search out, develop and groom talent within the organization.
Previously as the Practice Leader with Right Management, an American organization consulting firm, Marako is focused on partnering with clients to identify, design and implement solutions across Asia Pacific to support strategic organisation initiatives.
Marako also specialises in assessment work, leadership development, coaching, career transition and organisation development.
Prior to Right Management, Marako served as Chief Learning Officer and the head of Human Resource in a Supply Chain MNC. He pioneered Organisation Development initiatives throughout its global offices using hi-tech, hi-touch means. This included weekly inspiration emails, culture training, coaching across levels, lunchtalks, eLearning platform, operations training and other HRD initiatives.
Marako’s other appointments include serving as Innovation Architect of the Department for Innovations in SQ Centre where he specialised in consulting, designing and training in SQ Centre's suite of service, innovation and teambuilding programmes. He also conducted leadership development programmes for MNC clients across countries such as China, India, Dubai, Hong Kong and SEA.
Marako is an engaging speaker and has provided training to companies across various industries. He is an accredited facilitator for the HBDI® profiling tool, Birkman Method® Profiling, Management Research Group’s LEA360 and Belbin® Team Roles.
He has also written for numerous journals articles such as "Blend of Class and e", "Frown on Creativity", “Marketing Innovation” and "Leadership I-Factor".
Before joining SQ Centre, Marako was a Senior Consultant with Oliver Wyman. He specialised in learning design and development, working with project teams across different cultures, geographic borders and nationalities. Marako has consulted for a large number of MNCs and local companies. He was also the coach for business programmes with INSEAD. In 2002, he led an instructional design team in developing an award winning elearning module.
Marako holds a BSC specializing in Mathematics, a Post Grad in Education, an MA in Instructional Design, an action-researched professional DBA and a Grad Dip in Human Capital Management. He was also a PSC (Public Service Commission) Scholar and started his career with the Ministry of Education.
In addition to his consulting experience, Marako is the author of the book “Yes! But… A Handbook For Workplace Creativity”. He has lectured with several universities specialising in Organisation Learning, Human Resource and Training Development modules. He is also an avid musician and teaches the electric guitar in his free time.
