THE ASIA HRD CONGRESS™ AWARDS - 2004


The Asia HRD Congress™ Awards 2004 recognizes significant contributions to people development in three categories. These awards were presented by YB Datuk Wira Dr. Fong Chan Onn, Minister of Human Resources.

1) Contribution to the HR Community

Cik Ainon Marziah Wahi, Vice President - HRM of Petronas receiving the award on behalf of YBhg Datuk Abdul Rahim Hashim.
YBhg Datuk Abdul Rahim Hashim, Vice President, Gas Business of Petronas Berhad received the award for Contribution to the HR Community for proving that HR can make a tangible contribution to business by driving the Occupational Skills Standards initiative during his stint as Head of HR.

2) Special Recognition Award

Mr. Nik Saifudean, Chief Operating Officer of Kobe Precision Technology Sdn Bhd receiving the award on behalf of Mr. Shunsuke Koyama.
The award for contribution to an organization went to Mr. Shunsuke Koyama, Managing Director of Kobe Precision Technology Sdn Bhd in Penang, for establishing Self Directed Work Teams - a proven process that transformed his organization with the spirit of ownership, resulting in better quality, productivity, and results.

3) Contribution to the Society
The award for Contribution to Society is shared by Associate Prof. Dato' Dr. Zaliha Omar of the Department of Allied Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya Medical Centre and Mr. Jeyathesan Kulasingham, Project Director of the Malaysian Red Crescent Society.

Dato' Dr. Zaliha Omar
Dato' Dr. Zaliha Omar received the award for her pioneering work in Rehabilitation Medicine at the UMMC. Her commitment to providing training opportunities to medical and paramedical personnel has immensely expanded the scope of care available to the disabled.

Mr. Kulasekar Kulasingham receiving the award on behalf of his brother, Mr. Jeyathesan Kulasingham.
Mr. Jeyathesan Kulasingham was recognised for initiating the community project CARErity, a long term project aimed at character building among youth and children by establishing long term caring relationships with the less fortunate groups in the community. The award was received by his brother, Mr. Kulasekar Kulasingham.
